Iron foundry BIRN, based in Holstebro, Denmark, will supply cast iron solutions to one of Scandinavia's largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, Väderstad. Väderstad's focus on developing highly efficient machines for agriculture is a good match for BIRN's high quality, long-lasting products and innovative solutions.
High-quality cast iron solutions are on their way from Denmark to Sweden. Väderstad, one of the world's leading companies in tillage and seeding, is a new customer of the Danish iron foundry BIRN. The new collaboration between the two companies is the result of a constructive and trusting dialog over many years.
- First and foremost, we are extremely proud to deliver to such an important and large customer as Väderstad, a leader in agricultural machinery, where innovation and development are integral parts of the company's way of working. BIRN has supplied cast iron solutions to customers in the agricultural sector for many years, so this is an obvious customer for us, says Jens Ravn, Key Account Manager at BIRN. He continues:
- Cast iron parts are ideal for agricultural machinery as they are often exposed to demanding conditions in agricultural production. This places high demands on mechanical properties and surface treatment, among other things.
At Väderstad, BIRN’s One-stop-shop concept, including the possibility to produce prototypes using either own group facilities or in close cooperation with a network of prototype specialists, combined with a strong focus on sustainability is an important factor for their choice of supplier, explains Anders Filipsson, Category Manager at Väderstad:
- BIRN’s one-stop-shop is positive for us as a customer, because it allows us to work with a single partner who is in control of the entire process and who we know has the right expertise, technologies, and certifications.
One of the first deliveries from BIRN is cast iron components for Väderstad's new category of seed drills, the so-called Proceed series, which among other things can increase the yield of farmers' harvests with very precise placement of seeds in the sowing phase.
- We are very pleased to be working with Väderstad. There is no doubt that we match each other very well and that we at BIRN complement their already strong supplier set up in a very constructive way, says Jens Ravn.
