They were just 19 and 17 years old when they got jobs at the BIRN iron foundry in Holstebro - and they have both celebrated 50 years with the company. Kurt Reinholt and Jørn Søe Kristensen didn't know back in 1973 that the company would be their workplace for many years to come. But that's how it worked out, which means that the two loyal employees are now being honored with the Royal Medal of Reward. The same applies to Kurt Søgaard, who started at the iron foundry in 1979 at the age of 23. He started as an hourly-paid inspection worker and later became a salaried employee and department manager at the company, where he has now completed 40 years of employment - and then some.

The Royal Medal of Reward is awarded to skilled and unskilled private employees who have been employed continuously for at least 40 years in the same company. Kurt Reinholt has just retired, while Kurt Søgaard and Jørn Søe Kristensen still work at BIRN, albeit on reduced hours.

- One of the reasons I've stayed with the company for 50 years is that it has continuously embraced new technology, so today we have many more machines and tools at our disposal. This is both a great relief for us as employees, and it's also important to keep up with technological development and not get stuck as a company. BIRN is also a stable place to be if you do your job well. For me, it's important to have a good and safe job where the conditions are good, says Jørn Søe Kristensen.

The loyal and long-standing efforts of all three employees have earned them the Royal Medal of Reward, which they have just received at a festive event at BIRN.

- We are committed to investing in our employees and therefore offer good working conditions and maintain local production in an international group. Therefore, it is also important that we mark and celebrate anniversaries and such great achievements as long-standing anniversaries and the awarding of royal medals, says Group CEO Claus Beier.
