BIRN Group publishes sustainability report for 2025
BIRN Group has just published its sustainability report for 2025. Although the group is still not subject to the EU’s sustainability reporting requirements, BIRN has once again chosen to document and highlight its sustainability work to customers, partners and employees.
For BIRN, the sustainability report is not just about reporting. As an international foundry group, BIRN is increasingly finding that customers are demanding documentation of climate footprint, resource consumption and responsible production throughout the value chain. Sustainability has therefore become an integral part of the way the group conducts its business.
- Although we are not yet subject to the new EU requirements for sustainability reporting, we find that our work on documentation and transparency creates value for our customers. We see a growing need for insight into areas such as carbon footprint and material consumption, and we therefore wish to continue highlighting our efforts and results through a comprehensive sustainability report, says Flemming Juel Jensen, Group CEO at BIRN Group.
A key focus area in 2025 has been our work on Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), which provides more precise documentation of the carbon footprint at product level. This gives customers a better basis for their own climate calculations whilst also supporting increasing demands for transparency within the industry.
The report also describes how BIRN Group works strategically with sustainability across Environment, Social and Governance (ESG). This work is based, among other things, on the Group’s double materiality assessment, which identifies the areas where BIRN has the greatest impact and where external demands have the greatest significance for the business.
In the climate and environment area, the main focus is on energy consumption and the volume of production waste, whilst the key focus in the social area is on safety, staff turnover and age distribution. In the area of corporate governance, attention is directed towards, amongst other things, cyber security and responsible supplier relations.
The sustainability report shows that, as a group, we are fulfilling our commitment to working in a structured manner to reduce our carbon footprint, strengthen the organisation and ensure responsible management. This is a positive development that we look forward to continuing.
